Build Week 25: Roof On and Concrete Sealed
Two major steps took place this week, putting on the roof membrane and finishing the concrete flooring.
Week of February 25 - Days 46 & 47
Our roof membrane went on Tuesday this week, and it is looking fantastic! This is one of those items that was best to hire a professional to prevent any chance of the building leaking down the road. Since our design is a flat roof design with a parapet, we installed a mechanically-fastened TPO membrane to make our horizontal surfaces water-tight. As much as we are proud of the work we did to frame the building, we couldn't be happier to see it get covered up so beautifully.
Next week our doors and windows go in which is our final step in completely sealing up the building. Before that happens it was time to harden and seal our concrete flooring. We will be leaving these exposed for the final finish. Before sealing we thoroughly cleaned it (it's been a muddy winter!) and sanded down any stains or imperfections that we could. Then poured on the hardener/sealant, swept it around, rinsed it, and repeated the process until it was looking great. This floor has never been so clean or looked so great!
