Blog Post Week 9: More Finishing Work

This week was full of little projects as we’re working to get the home ready for the owners to move in...

10/16/2018 - Day 13

Some of these tasks included cutting baseboards, installing Hardie Board, and finishing the concrete floor. The work on finishing the Hardie panels has slowed down because we don’t have any more corner trim pieces. We were able to finish a little bit of the back alcoves in Hardie, but we really need those trim pieces to finish the façade. The Northeast façade also got a coat of paint and it’s starting to come together.
Mitch is painting more boards to trim the bathroom vanities.

10/18/2018 - Day 14

Today we were given the assignment to design and build some box benches to be attached to the front of each unit. After brainstorming some ideas, a design was agreed on, materials bought, and construction started on the first bench.
On the next units to be constructed, we have removed most of the stakes from the footing forms so that we can rotate the footings to be parallel with the first two units. We have really been holding off on working on these next units until the first two are complete.
